This McKinsey report reveals an embarrassing fact three years after the outbreak of the AI industry: Most companies have just started piloting AI, and there has been progress, but not much. 1 Nearly all respondents said their organizations are using AI, and many agencies are already using AI agents. 2 But most companies are still in the early stages of scaling AI and capturing enterprise-level value. 3 Eighty percent of respondents said their companies use efficiency as a goal for AI projects, but those companies that see the greatest value from AI tend to include growth or innovation as additional goals. 4 Half of these AI high performers intend to use AI to transform their business, and most are redesigning workflows. 5 The use of AI Agents has not yet become widespread: Most people who are expanding their use of AI Agents say they are only doing so on one or two functions. Across any business function, no more than 10% of respondents said their organization is expanding AI agents. 6 Industry distribution: The technology industry is definitely leading the way. The technology industry accounts for the highest proportion of most functions, among which software engineering (24%) ranks first in terms of large-scale application rate.
- Functional distribution: IT and knowledge management are the most common. From a cross-industry perspective, companies are most likely to use AI Agents for IT and knowledge management, which are currently the two most popular scenarios. 8 Highlighted industries: The insurance industry has extremely deep vertical applications. The insurance industry has extremely high application rates in the fields of marketing and sales (20%) and risk control and legal affairs (16%), significantly surpassing other traditional industries.
